The mechanism of action of Generic Aralen in preventing as well as treating malaria is not clearly understood. However, it is presumed that chloroquine denies the invasion of viruses or parasites into the red blood cells (RBCs). Typically, malarial parasites target the RBCs, enter the cells to proliferate, and cause malarial infection. Generic Aralen prevents the parasite/virus from breaking the hemoglobin down in RBCs, denying it to enter the blood cells and preventing infection. Chloroquine has been found effective only against certain strains of malarial strains.
