• Rosulip (rosuvastatin) is used to treat high cholesterol, a condition called hypercholesterolemia or dyslipidemia.

Rosulip (rosuvastatin) is a selective inhibitor of an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, a precursor of cholesterol. Studies have found that rosuvastatin has a high uptake action in the liver, the target organ for lowering cholesterol. The drug has also been found effective at increasing the number of LDL (bad cholesterol) receptors on the cell surface. Furthermore, rosuvastatin temporary blocks synthesis of bad cholesterol in the liver, reducing bad cholesterol effectively.

• Rosulip is available in 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg tablets. Your doctor may put you on a suitable dose after taking certain factors into consideration.
• Use Rosulip pill as directed by your doctor; do not use more of it; do not use it for a longer time than recommended. Do not miss any doses and take it regularly.
• In addition to Rosulip, your doctor may ask you to eat a healthy diet that is low in fat, sugar, and cholesterol. Also, your doctor will advise you to exercise regularly.
• You may take Rosulip once a day, with or without food. Swallow the whole tablet, without breaking, crushing, or chewing it.
• Make sure you take the medicine at the same time every day, without skipping or overdosing on it.

• Before your doctor advises Rosulip, tell him/her if you have ever had a drug allergy, including any statins like rosuvastatin.
• Before treatment, tell your doctor whether you have any other medical condition apart from hypercholesterolemia.
• More importantly, tell your doctor about the medications (OTC/prescriptions), vitamins, or herbal supplements you use because certain meds are inimical to rosuvastatin.
• Rosulip has been found harmful for unborn babies so it is not advised during pregnancy. So, check with your doctor about using the drug during pregnancy.
• Likewise, the use of this drug in breastfeeding mothers have demonstrated harmful effects on newborns, as rosuvastatin can pass into breast milk.

• Joint pain
• Joint stiffness
• Difficulty moving
• Muscle pain
• Muscle cramps or spasms

These are common side effects of Rosulip, which may subside after using the drug for a few days. However, check with your doctor right away if you experience severe muscle pain or stiffness. Also, seek medical help if you experience chest pain or breathlessness even after using the drug as advised.

• If you are supposed to undergo any surgical intervention, tell your surgeon or dentist that you have been taking Rosulip for your high blood cholesterol issue.
• Please limit your alcoholic intake. Regular use of alcohol along with this drug may increase your risk of liver problems. It is better to avoid alcohol completely.
• Older individuals are more vulnerable to the drug reactions of Rosulip, especially muscle pain, cramps, spasms, or stiffness.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if the next dose is scheduled. Do not take two doses to compensate for the missed dose.
• Store Rosulip tablets at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep them out of the reach of pets and children.
