Cetcip L contains levocetirizine so it is nothing but a generic version of Xyzal. The drug is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and skin hives (urticaria). Levocetirizine belongs to the class of drugs called second-generation antihistamines. Cetcip L provides relief from allergic symptoms such as sneezing, stuffy nose, runny nose, water/red eyes, itchy eyes, skin rashes (nettle rash) with itching or burning. Levocetirizine is available with or without a doctor’s prescription.

  • Cetcip L is an antihistamine used for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as itchy/watery eyes, runny nose, itchy nose, and sneezing.
  • It is also effective at treating itching and hives, a condition called urticaria or nettle rash.
  • Cetcip L works by inhibiting a natural substance called histamine, which is released during an allergic reaction.
  • The drug does not treat or prevent a serious allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. It is only used for mild allergic reactions.
  • Unlike the first-generation antihistamines, Cetcip L, which is the second-generation antihistamines, does not cause drowsiness or sedation.

When an allergic reaction takes place, the body’s immune system tries to fight off the allergen or foreign substance. During that reaction, the body releases histamine, a chemical that is responsible for causing inflammation. Cetcip L (levocetirizine) blocks the secretion of histamine, which is why it is called an antihistamine. By stopping the production of histamine, this drug subsides inflammation, offering relief from allergic reactions and symptoms.

  • The dose of Cetcip L will be different for different patients so check with your doctor to understand which dose is suitable for you.
  • Your doctor may advise Cetcip L 5 mg once a day for a specific duration so take it exactly as directed by your doctor.
  • Do not take more or less amount of the dosage than advised. Also do not take it more often or for a longer duration than advised.
  • Follow all directions carefully if you are using Cetcip L for your allergies, without a prescription.
  • You can take Cetcip L pills with or without food. Make sure you swallow the tablet whole, without chewing or breaking it.
  • Before treatment with Cetcip L, tell your doctor if you have any drug allergies, including levocetirizine or cetirizine.
  • Check with your doctor whether you can use this allergy medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is unknown whether Cetcip L causes harm to the fetus or newborn.
  • More importantly, tell your doctor whether you are undergoing treatment with any other OTC or prescription drugs because levocetirizine may interact with certain drugs.
  • Certain medical problems may affect the use of Cetcip L. Therefore, make sure you tell your doctor if you have any medical issues, especially prostate enlargement and kidney or liver disease.
  • Older patients who have age-related liver, kidney, or heart issues may require extreme caution and a dosage adjustment while taking Cetcip L.
  • Muscle aches
  • Unusual drowsiness
  • Sleepiness
  • Sore throat
  • Dry mouth
  • Change in smell or taste

These are common side effects of Cetcip L, which may subside after some time. Get immediate medical attention if you experience serious side effects such as skin rashes, swelling of the face or throat, chest pain, breathlessness, or extreme dizziness.

  • It is imperative to check with your doctor during treatment to make sure Cetcip L is working properly. You may require urine tests to check for any unwanted effects.
  • If your allergy symptoms do not improve even after taking Cetcip L as recommended or if they aggravate, immediately seek medical attention.
  • Cetcip L may cause urinary retention, especially in older men with an enlarged prostate. So check with your doctor if you experience any trouble urinating.
  • Levocetirizine may make you a bit drowsy or dizzy. So, do not drive or do not do things that could be dangerous until you know you are alert or attentive.
  • Avoid alcohol or marijuana while using this allergy medication; otherwise, they may increase the risk of dizziness and drowsiness when you take them with levocetirizine.

I’ve been using Cetcip L rather than Xyzal for my allergies, of course, to save money. I often buy Cetcip L online from this store. Offers a great deal with prompt shipping.
