The exact mechanism of action of tretinoin is unknown, but research suggests that topical tretinoin helps in reducing the cohesiveness of follicular epithelial cells. It also helps in reducing microcomedo formation. Besides, tretinoin stimulates mitotic activity in the skin, increasing turnover of follicular epithelial cells and causing extrusion of the comedones or acne.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before applying A-Ret Gel 0.1%. Gently clean the affected area of the skin with a cleanser and pat dry.
• Use your fingertips to apply a small amount of A-Ret Gel 0.1% and gently run to a thin layer, once daily before going to bed or as advised by your doctor.
• Please use this medicine on the skin only. Avoid applying to the inner lip area or inside the mouth or nose. Also, avoid applying it to open wounds, cuts, or eczema-affected skin.
• During the initial few days of using A-Ret Gel 0.1%, tretinoin may worsen your acne because it is working on pimples forming inside the skin. You may notice improvement after using A-Ret Gel 0.1% regularly for up to 8-12 weeks.
• Use A-Ret Gel 0.1% regularly by applying it at the same time each day. Do not use less or more amount of gel than recommended.

• Before using A-Ret Gel 0.1%, tell your doctor your medical history, especially if you have dermatitis or any other skin disease.
• If you are using other skin products containing sulfur or salicylic acid, use A-Ret Gel 0.1% with caution. Use this medicine after the effects of such products subside.
• If you are allergic to tretinoin, please avoid using A-Ret Gel 0.1%.
• During pregnancy, A-Ret Gel 0.1% should be used only when clearly indicated. It may harm a fetus. Discuss all the risks and benefits with your doctor.
• It is unclear whether this acne medicine passes into breast milk. Please consult your doctor about using the drug before breastfeeding.

• A-Ret Gel 0.1% may make your skin more sensitive to the sun. So, limit your time in the sun and avoid tanning booths or sunlamps.
• Tell your doctor if you get sunburned or have skin redness or blisters during treatment, while you are exposed to the sun.
• Refrain from electrolysis, waxing, and chemical depilatories to remove your hair on the treated areas while using A-ret Gel 0.1%.
• Do not share A-ret Gel 0.1% with other people. Keep this topical acne medication away from children and pets.
• Do not apply more than the recommended gel; otherwise, your skin may get vulnerable to severe side effects.
