The secretion of lopinavir is enhanced with ritonavir, thereby helping lopinavir to function better at controlling the infection. The virus multiplies in the body within the cells, spreading the infection from cells to cells and eventually tissues to tissues. During this process, HIV makes new structural proteins and some enzymes called protease. Lopinavir inhibits protease activity, decreasing viral load in the body and controlling the infection.

• Prior to taking Generic Kaletra pills, inform your doctor if you have any drug allergies, including drugs such as lopinavir or ritonavir because this medicine may contain certain inactive drugs that may cause allergic reactions.
• Tell your doctor about the medical conditions you have been suffering from, such as liver dysfunction, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, heart problems, blood disease, pancreatitis, or other infectious diseases, such as hepatitis B or C, and TB.
• Before treatment, tell your doctor about the OTC or prescription drugs, herbal supplements, or any other meds you have been taking; that’s because Generic Kaletra may interact with some medications.
• If you are on Generic Kaletra and supposed to undergo any surgery, inform your doctor before the surgical procedure.

• Stomachache

• Generic Kaletra (lopinavir/ritonavir) may cause a cardiac problem that affects the heart rhythm, such as fast or irregular heartbeats, palpitations, extreme dizziness, or fainting.
• The elderly are more vulnerable to the side effects of this HIV/AIDS drug, especially heart rhythm problems.
• Overdosing with Generic Kaletra pills could increase the risk of breathlessness or dizziness. If you accidentally overdose, immediately seek medical attention.
• Tell your doctor if you conceive during the course of therapy. Lopinavir or ritonavir may lower the risk of transmitting the infection to an unborn baby. Discuss with a doctor for more details.
• It is not known whether this HIV medication passes into breast milk. Please see your doctor because breast milk can pass the HIV infection to newborns.
